THE BRONX - A new city program that began in January is looking to boost business in a high-traffic area of The Bronx.

The Department of Small Business Services launched a Neighborhood Retail Leasing Program to attract new and expanding businesses to the city's neighborhood commercial districts.

Southern Boulevard in the South Bronx is one of several areas chosen for an eight-month pilot program to provide assistance to business owners, foster neighborhood growth and introduce employers to a skilled local workforce.

Officials are planning to hold a "Rolling up the Gates Tour" on June 22, which will allow prospective business owners to see the vacant properties being offered.
