NEW YORK - A powerful snowstorm gave students a rare snow day at New York City public schools.

The storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow in parts of the city. Students say they were glad to get the day off, and many played outside in the snow.

Students who were slated to take the Regents exam will have to reschedule a new date.
