NEW YORK - The Department of Education will be distributing $10 million to 532 schools across New York City this afternoon.

Officials say the money will be going to schools where two-thirds of the students performed below grade level on proficiency exams.

The money, according to an announcement by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Cathie Black, will go toward helping struggling schools with tutoring, small group lessons after school, weekend instructions and other supplemental materials.
