Some see green with Hurricane Irene

As officials brought mass transit systems to a halt all across the region, including New York City, livery cab drivers say they saw more business

THE BRONX - As officials brought mass transit systems to a halt all across the region, including New York City, livery cab drivers say they saw more business thanks to Hurricane Irene.

Drivers say they are one of the only means of transportation for residents to get around the city. They say they've seen a spike in calls from people looking to go grocery shopping or looking to pick up essential supplies ahead of the storm.

Some car companies say that while they may be running now, once the conditions worsen, they too may suspend service for safety.
