THE BRONX - Parents from one Bronx school staged a rally demanding equality when it comes to their children's education.

Protesters lined up in front of the Soundview Academy with signs calling for public school funding. They claim that state Sen. Jeff Klein is planning on giving extra resources to both charter and private schools, and is forgetting about traditional public ones.

The group, which included supporters from organizations such as the Alliance for Quality Education, says that their fight isn't between charter and public schools, but about equality for all students among all types of schools.

Sen. Klein released a statement saying, "I have long believed that Bronx families are best served when we support all public schools, including charter schools. That's why I have increased funding for our public schools by over $1 billion in the past year alone."
