Soundview woman injured in mid-afternoon attack

SOUNDVIEW - A Soundview woman is recovering in the hospital today after she was attacked in the elevator of her building on Rosedale Avenue.

The attack took place at the Bronxdale Houses yesterday around 2 p.m. Police say the suspect hit the woman in the face and stole her purse.

Only four of the 30 Bronxdale buildings have a tenant patrol, and the building at 1055 Rosedale Ave., where the attack took place, is not one of those buildings.

Some neighbors say they want better security. "They should put a camera in the building," says Miguel Meaigan.

Police say this is still an on going investigation, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is being urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
