THE BRONX - Police sources tell News 12 that a teacher at Columbus High School found a greeting card filled out with threatening comments on a school shooting.

The teacher reportedly found the note on a classroom floor around 10:30 a.m.

Police are investigating it as a terroristic threat, according to the sources.

The school was placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes, but students were released at their regular time.

Thursday evening, some parents and night school students say they had no idea that the incident had taken place earlier in the day.

"The NYPD immediately responded, conducted a thorough search and cleared the building," a spokesperson for the Department of Education said. "Students and staff are safe, and an evacuation was not necessary."

The school already has metal detectors in place.
