THE BRONX - More than 250 military veterans came out for a special salute to them held by Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

The ceremony was organized by Diaz's Veterans Advisory Panel.

Veterans in attendance included those from World War II through the current Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.

"We're honoring the future soldiers coming home," said Sgt. Jerry White Sr. "You know, we've been here awhile so it's not about us. It's about the future soldiers, the future troops coming home."
