MOTT HAVEN - St. Anselm Church in Mott Haven hosted its first Public Feast of St. Anselm to raise money for restorations.
Over the next few years, the church hopes to raise $4 million to restore artwork and its decaying structures. Feast organizers say they also hope to establish more outreach programs and a food pantry.
The event featured rides, food, a raffle and live music.
Church officials say the 125-year-old church is one of just two Byzantine churches in the country. They say it has broken windows, chipped walls and is in need of a new roof. They hope to complete the renovations by 2017.
