MORRISANIA - A Morrisania church that shut its doors two years ago was demolished today.

St. Augustine closed two years ago after church officials said the crumbling walls and a leaking roof became too expensive to repair. Parishioners say it was painful to watch the 162-year-old church be torn down.

The parish has since moved about a mile away from its original location, where it now shares space with Our Lady of Victory Church.

Pastor Thomas Fenlon and other church officials say they hope to keep the St. Augustine Food Pantry open, but they need money to renovate it.
