THE BRONX - A Morrisania food pantry has been told to relocate to make space for a new affordable housing complex.

Officials say the St. Augustine food pantry on Fulton Avenue has been in the same location for 20 years and feeds almost 600 families on a weekly basis.

Church leadership says the pantry’s new location two blocks away is too small, not handicap-accessible and right next to a school.

The archdiocese said in a statement, “We do recognize that the space is not identical to what they have been using, but we have made a commitment to work with them to see how the new location can be improved."
