THE BRONX - Emotions ran high Friday at St. Barnabas Hospital as the community gathered to celebrate LGBT pride week and to remember those who lost their lives in the Orlando shooting.

“It's a moment to be proud, those who are LGBT have to tell our stories. Prejudice drives on ignorance,” said Councilman Ritchie Torres.

St. Barnabas is the first hospital in the Bronx to transition into the health care equality index, which educates health care facilities to provide quality care to all without judgment.
