KINGSBRIDGE - State Sen. Gustavo Rivera says the state has allocated $1 million to study how a local subway station can accommodate the Kingsbridge National Ice Center.

Officials expect thousands of extra riders to visit the Kingsbridge Road and Jerome Avenue subway station when the ice center opens in 2017.

Prospective ideas include access for the disabled and a bridge from the station directly into the armory.

The results of the study are expected within 18 months, Rivera says.
