THE BRONX - State labor officials and local leaders have joined forces to help put unemployed Bronx residents back to work.

A state-sponsored job fair was held today at Hostos Community College, with about 87 companies taking part in the expo. Officials say close to 7,000 jobs were available at today's event.

State labor officials say the Bronx was chosen to pilot today's initiative because of its 10.3 percent unemployment rate, which is the highest in the state.

Those who missed the fair can still look for jobs online on the Labor Department's website.
