State's largest pre-K for disabled opens in the BX

THE BRONX - The state's largest pre-kindergarten school for the disabled opened Wednesday in the Bronx.

The Bronx Early Learning Center on Bathgate Avenue will cater to 250 children, ages 3 to 5. Their disabilities will vary greatly, but officials say the goal is the same: to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.

The organization Volunteers of America held a ribbon cutting Wednesday at the event. The group is behind construction of the center and staffing.
