THE BRONX - New Yorkers who plan on going clothes shopping should now be prepared to shell out more money.

Starting today, stores will be charging a 4.75 percent state sales tax on clothes and shoes, regardless of the price. Prior to Oct. 1, clothes costing under $110 in total were exempt from the tax.

There is no word yet if there will be any tax-free shopping weeks in the future.
