State Sen. Schneiderman wins Democratic primary for AG

NEW YORK - State Sen. Eric Schneiderman won the Democratic primary for attorney general, winning a close contest against Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice. Schneiderman also defeated former Assistant Attorney General Eric Dinallo, Assemblyman Richard Brodsky and former federal prosecutor Sean Coffey. As of 1 a.m., Schneiderman had 34 percent of the vote, compared with 31 percent for Rice. He will face Republican candidate and Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan in the general election.
