ALBANY - (AP) - The New York Legislature's "extraordinarysession" to finally pass the late state budget today wasanything but extraordinary, with nine senators not showing up andno agreements on which to vote.

An angry Gov. David Paterson warned he will keep forcinglawmakers back to Albany until the budget that was due April 1 ispassed. The next session is Thursday.

Two days of session costs nearly $100,000 in per diem expensechecks of about $170 a day for lawmakers and the cost of travel, staff lodging, meals, utilities and more.

The Senate's Democratic majority was lacking five members in therare summer session forced by Paterson. As a result, the majoritydidn't have the 32 votes needed to pass the last remaining billneeded to finish the state budget.
