Steinbrenner family defers donations to Boys and Girls Club

SOUNDVIEW - Despite mourning, the Steinbrenner family is still finding ways to give back to the community.

The family has asked fans to make donations to the Boys and Girls Club in Kips Bay instead of sending flowers.

Daniel Quintero, the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club, says the donations couldn't come at a better time with 10 clubs serving 14,000 kids in the Bronx. He says the extra money will help pay for their meals and new baseball equipment for the indoor dome fields.

The club plans to have its own memorial to honor George Steinbrenner.
