Stores stay open despite snow

THE BRONX - Several stores in the Fordham shopping district remained open despite the snowstorm Wednesday.

Some store owners said they chose to remain open because they were hoping shoppers would come in on their day off from work. Many hoped customers would buy Valentine 's Day gifts.

Meanwhile, several Bronx residents looked to make extra cash by shoveling sidewalks and odd jobs.

?People come out no matter what,? said James Riley. ?This is New York, the snow doesn't stop anybody.?
