THE BRONX - A severe thunderstorm with high winds caused several tree branches to snap and partially block traffic at the intersection of 246th Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway.

The harsh weather swept through the Bronx, uprooting trees and knocking down power lines. The storm moved in quickly and as of 10 p.m., had knocked out power to 1,900 residents in Riverdale.

There are also reports of tree damage in Williamsbridge and Grand Concourse.
