Stormy weather hits the Bronx

(08/23/10) THE BRONX - Today's stormy weather made for a dreary day across the Bronx.

Choppy waters caused swans and boats to bob up and down on City Island. According to officials, a fisherman was trying to pull back on his boat when he needed to be rescued by emergency responders. It is believed the winds and water sucked him down into the swell as he gripped the boat. Island Bait and Tackle says its sales plunged by 50 percent due to the weather.

The storm also left some destruction further inland. Winds brought tree limbs down across roads and sidewalks and heavy rains flooded parts of the Moshulu Parkway.
