THE BRONX - Three men are being credited with stopping a robbery in which two suspects used a paint can to attack a man in the Bronx, police say.

The incident happened on Saturday in front of 1449 Overing St. just after 1:30 a.m. in Westchester Square.

Police say the 23-year-old victim was approached by the two suspects who attempted to rob him.

However, when the man told the suspects he did not have anything, police say the duo threw a paint can at him.

The 23-year-old man yelled for help, and three good Samaritans came to his aid and attempted to restrain the two suspects before they ran away.

The victim was not injured.

The suspects are described as being 18 years old, and were last seen wearing dark-colored sweaters, grey sweatpants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
