THE BRONX - The third annual "State of the Platforms Report" from the Straphangers Campaign says 95 percent of Bronx subway platforms have substantial water damage - the highest in the city.
The group checked 862 subway platforms this summer. They say that 21 percent of underground stations in the Bronx have rats, which is also the highest of all the boroughs.
When it comes to peeling paint, it only plagues 67 percent of Bronx platforms, the least compared to the other boroughs.

The MTA released a statement saying, "The items in the Straphangers report highlight elements that would be extremely costly to keep in perfect condition and would do little, if anything to either improve service or make stations safer. We have to prioritize projects using available funds to address the most pressing needs first."
