Street renamed in honor of popular Bronx activist

THE BRONX - Dozens of family, friends and community members came together Thursday for the renaming of a Bronx street in honor of a beloved activist and health educator.

Meg Charlop Way is the new name of East 167th Street in Morrisania, after 57-year-old Megan Charlop. The mother of two was hit and killed by an MTA bus while riding her bike two years ago.

Loved ones say they also hope to have a bike path installed on Crotonia Avenue and East Tremont Road where she was killed. Bronx activist remembered after bus deathCommunity holds vigil for Bronx cyclist
