THE BRONX - A string of burglaries in City Island has some local business owners wanting to know where their promised security cameras are.

State Sen. Jeffery Klein announced to much fanfare last year a $100,000 plan to install 16 street cameras along City Island Avenue, but residents say there are still no cameras in sight.

Shop owners complain that burglars targeted a pizzeria, a pharmacy and a deli this month, and that the street cameras could have helped catch the culprits.

Sen. Klein released a statement saying, "The installation of security cameras along City Island Avenue has already begun, with completion expected in the coming months. I'm pleased to report that after working alongside the City Island Chamber of Commerce, we have cut through the remaining red tape and will soon have all 16 cameras up and running."
