THE BRONX - A group of eighth-grade students from The Learning Tree School returned from a trip to Ghana today, saying they connected classroom learning to real life.
Students visited a well built by the program, spent 10 days in Ghana schools and made new friends, organizers said. They visited the Apatrapa community in the Ashanti region of the country.
Officials say the cost of the trip was $2,100 per student and added that the money was raised through bake sales and candy fundraisers.
The school regularly sponsors trips abroad. This was the group's third trip in six years.
