Over 200 students from pre-K to seventh grade from the Santa Maria School on Zerega Avenue participated in the first-ever Kids Walk event for diabetes

THE BRONX - Over 200 students from pre-K to seventh grade from the Santa Maria School on Zerega Avenue participated in the first-ever Kids Walk event for diabetes today.

The objective of the walk was to raise awareness about diabetes through networking, education and advocacy.

The children raised funds with the walk-a-thon and will be donating all of the money to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The event was hosted by Fair in Action. Organizers say they hope the event will continue for years to come.
