Students rail against planned MTA cuts

THE BRONX - Bronx students rallied Tuesday against an MTA cost-cutting plan that would eliminate their free MetroCards.

The students were joined by elected officials and other city residents, such as seniors and disabled residents, who would be affected by the new Metropolitan Transportation Authority doomsday budget.

"We cannot let the MTA put this through without New Yorkers standing up and saying no," says New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who joined protesters.
