WARREN - Today was the first day back to school after the death of a quarterback at a New Jersey high school.

Evan Murray, 17, died Friday night after being injured during a game at the Warren Hills Regional Stadium. The Morris County medical examiner says Murray died from a lacerated spleen.

Murray not only excelled in football, but also in basketball and baseball.

He was the only child of Thomas and Kelly Murray.

Gov. Chris Christie, along with the New York Giants and New York Jets, tweeted their condolences.

Several of Murray's classmates are raising money for his family. A GoFundMe page has also raised more than $40,000.
