Students to rally Monday against MTA cuts

THE BRONX - Bronx students are gearing up for a rally Monday against proposed MTA cuts that imperil their free MetroCards.

Students are expected to be joined by parents and community activists to express outrage over the cuts, which Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials say are needed to close a budget shortfall.

Organizers expect at least 5,000 protesters at Monday's rally.
