THE BRONX - Students from across the Bronx voiced their concerns Friday on the MTA's plan to eliminate student MetroCards.

The students say taking away their MetroCards would be devastating. City leaders asked students and parents to come to City Hall so they could hear their concerns. Representatives from the MTA were also present.

The MTA has proposed cutting free MetroCards for students to help the agency plug an $800 million budget gap.

Thousands of straphangers voiced their opinions at MTA hearings held over the last several weeks. Many asked the MTA to find alternative ways of funding.
