Study: Hate crimes up in The Bronx

THE BRONX - A recent study shows that the number of hate crimes in the Bronx is increasing.

According to the findings of the state?s Division of Criminal Justice Services study, there were 17 hate crimes in 2008 and the number nearly doubled in 2009 with 33. The results also reveal that 37 percent of the crimes are because of anti-Jewish sentiment. Hatred towards blacks, gays and Hispanics followed close behind. 2009 report on hate crimes
