Subway closures cause headache for commuters

THE BRONX - Two subway station closures due to renovations are causing a headache for commuters on the 6 line.

The Morrison-Soundview Avenue and Whitlock Avenue stations on the 6 line were shut down Monday morning in order to begin renovations.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is offering free transfers to a local bus route ? the Bx4 ? to get to the next station. However, commuters are not happy with the change.

More closures are planned including the Parkchester station in March 2010 and the St. Lawrence Avenue as well as Elder Avenue stations in March 2011.
