THE BRONX - An annual survey by the Straphangers Campaign found subway service announcements are not made or inaudible for 55 percent of the time when there are delays.

This year's survey is an improvement for the MTA. In the last four years, the surveys said 65 percent of riders were unable to hear, or did not receive, announcements during service changes.

Transit rules require conductors to make in-car announcements immediately after a delay and again two minutes following the initial message.
