THE BRONX - The man accused of breeding pit bulls for a dog fighting ring appeared before a judge today.

Raul Sanchez, 57, is accused of breeding 47 pit bulls for fighting, according to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) agents. They say the arrest was the result of a yearlong investigation.

The dogs are currently being housed at an animal shelter. Sanchez remains in jail and is due back in court on July 25.
