THE BRONX - A man accused of killing an aspiring model last week in Morrisania appeared before a judge Monday morning.

The courtroom was packed with friends and family of both suspect Davaughn Johnson, 22, and victim Aaliyah Alder, a 21-year-old from Mott Haven.

On March 27, police say Alder was visiting a friend at the Forest Houses and intervened when a fight between that friend and her boyfriend got heated, and the boyfriend got slashed in the hand. The criminal complaint states that Johnson then shot and killed Alder.

Police say Johnson, the boyfriend who was slashed and a third person fled the complex after shots were fired. The injured person was arrested and questioned by police, but was later released.

The case will now go before a grand jury. Johnson is due back in court April 18.
