Suspect in BX teacher's shooting arrested after manhunt

THE BRONX - Police have arrested a 53-year-old man accused of shooting a special education teacher from The Bronx.

Eric Goods was taken into custody today after a five-hour manhunt in the woods of Rockland County. Police say Goods shot Ed Kerns multiple times with a small-caliber handgun. Kerns survived the shooting and was able to walk into an ambulance.

The Department of Education says Kerns teaches at the Helen Keller School on 153 Baychester Ave.
