Suspect in killing of livery cab driver pleads not guilty

THE BRONX - A 19-year-old man accused of shooting a livery cab driver to death in the Bronx pleaded not guilty today.Hosny Hernandez says he does not remember much about June 6, the night of the killing, other than calling for the cab, because he was drunk.

Hernandez says he called the cab from his girlfriend?s apartment, who neighbors say is now on the run. Some say they suspect she tried to cover up what her boyfriend did.

Cops say Hernandez and a man in a photo captured by the cab?s camera shot Cesar Santos after refusing to pay the fare. Hernandez is charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say the other passenger is still on the loose.

Hernandez is due back in court Monday.
