Suspect in police-involved shooting faces judge

THE BRONX - The 19-year-old arrested for allegedly firing his gun at two police officers appeared before a judge Sunday in criminal court.

Police say Jaleel Shakoor was taken into custody after shooting at the officers as they pursued him on foot. It happened at around midnight Saturday near 2411 Tratman Ave.

The suspect and officers were not injured during the exchange of gunfire. Police say a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Shakoor is charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon, among other charges.

Bail was set at $350,000. Shakoor is due back in court June 18.
