Suspect wanted in holdups of livery cab drivers

THE BRONX - Police are looking for a man who has been robbing livery cab drivers.

According to police, the suspect has robbed five drivers since December 19. Police say the robber hails cabs along Morris Avenue at 143rd, 149th and 153rd streets. During the robberies, the suspect pulled out a knife, stole the drivers? money and drove off with their cars. The most recent robbery took place on Monday afternoon.

Juan Cabrera, who drives livery cabs, says that he plans on taking extra precautions by making sure that his cab?s surveillance camera always works.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission says it is leaving the investigation in the hands of the NYPD.

No serious injuries have been reported in any of the robberies.
