THE BRONX - The alleged gang members accused of hitting a 15-year-old with a stray bullet were back in Bronx Criminal Court today.

Officials say Vada Vasquez was shot in the head Nov. 16, 2009 as she was walking home from school in Morrisania. She was rushed into brain surgery at Lincoln Hospital and survived.

The district attorney's office says Dwayne Taylor, Cleve Smith, Clivie Smith, Rohan Francis and Carvett Gentiles are members of the Gorilla Stone Bloods gang and were attempting to hit a rival gang member.

Sources tell News 12 The Bronx that defense attorneys are negotiating plea agreements for four of the suspects.

Vada is currently back in school and has made a strong recovery.
