THE BRONX - A two-alarm fire that ripped through a vacant multifamily home in University Heights is being investigated as suspicious.

Fire officials say flames burned through the roof of 61 Buchanan Place at around 4 a.m., forcing the evacuation of two next door buildings. Neighbors say the house has been boarded up and empty for years.

No civilians were hurt, but two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Department of Buildings is assessing the damage while the fire marshal works to determine the cause.
