THE BRONX - Authorities say an out-of-control SUV struck a young girl on Tinton Avenue Monday afternoon, then backed into a damaged building where a fire broke out just last week.

Police say the 16-year-old driver of a blue Ford SUV struck at least two cars before hitting a 15-year-old girl who was walking on the sidewalk.

After striking the girl, the SUV went into reverse and backed into a building at the corner of East 163rd Street and Tinton Avenue. The building used to house Pamela Grocery before it sustained heavy damage in a fire just last week.

Police arrested the driver and say charges against him are pending.

The condition of the victim has not yet been released.
