Tank leak leaves tenants in the cold

THE BRONX - Residents on the top floors of a Magenta Street apartment building were evacuated into the cold after a water tank leak Friday morning.

The incident happened when a valve on the 25,000-gallon tank, located on the roof of the apartment complex, broke.

After the tenants living on the top two floors of the building were evacuated, firefighters went on to block the leak and push the water downstairs and out of the building.

Tenants were later allowed back into their homes, many of which were severely damaged by flooding. In all, 733 units were affected.
