MOUNT HOPE - Tenants living at 1786 Topping Ave. in Mount Hope have not received mail in more than a month.

The building's mailboxes were broken and dilapidated, but the landlord, E & M Bronx Associates, says it has since been repaired and inspected. However, the new boxes cannot yet receive mail because they don't have locks, as required by the U.S. Postal Service.

Residents have been walking about 15 minutes to the nearest post office, but officials at the post office say new mail will no longer be held at the facility, and will be returned to the sender.
