THE BRONX - Residents in Morris Heights had an alarming wake-up call when a fire broke out in their building.

Authorities say flames broke out at around 7 a.m. at 1600 Nelson Ave. Firefighters had it under control and everyone evacuated within 30 minutes.

The damage was contained mostly to the first floor so most tenants are expected to be allowed back into their apartments.
