Tenants not allowed to return to Shakespeare Ave. building

THE BRONX - Some tenants in a building on Shakespeare Avenue say they're still not able to return to their apartments after being forced to evacuate on Saturday.

Tenants were forced out after inspectors found there weren't enough fire escapes in the building.

About 40 residents were supposed to meet with their landlord this morning, however, according to many, he never showed up.

The landlord, however, says he hopes to have the repairs done and tenants back in the building by Thursday.

The Red Cross says it will refer tenants to long-term housing for now.
