Tenants pay for own heat at foreclosed Morrisania building

Morrisania tenants living in a neglected, foreclosed building say they've been asking for help and paying for their own heat for the past four years.

THE BRONX - Morrisania tenants living in a neglected, foreclosed building say they've been asking for help and paying for their own heat for the past four years.

Residents at 1237 Tinton Ave. complain they not only have to chip in for oil to keep their three-story walkup warm, but they've also been to court several times.

The building is owned by Deutsche Bank and managed by Hassell Realty on Tremont Avenue. The tenants say they have court orders demanding that the management company make necessary repairs, but nothing has been done.

News 12 reached out to Hassell Realty about the problems, but has not heard back.
