THE BRONX - An elevator at a Wallace Avenue apartment building in Allerton is back is service.

Tenants say the elevator was broken for months, making it hard for seniors and the disabled to get around.

On Thursday, the building's only elevator was working again. The elevator was fixed after numerous complaints from tenants and community leaders calling to fix the problem.

Tenants are thrilled about the repair.

"After seven months without the elevator, I’m ecstatic," says Maria Rodriguez, a tenant in the building. "This is the best Christmas present we ever could have here."

Building management told News 12 that they reached out to three different companies to fix the elevator.
